Garden Volunteers: Did you know our beautiful school garden is also a classroom? Students visit the garden once a month, usually on a Wednesday, and learn from our Grow Portland garden educator. We're hoping to find a few more volunteers to support this program.You do not need to commit to coming every month -- whenever you have availability is great! You must complete your PPS background check before joining the garden classroom. Please reach out to Sophia Smith- Garden Educator, sophia@growportland.org for more information. Maker's Market on November 14th: Save the date for our Second Annual Makers Market on November 14 from 10am-4pm! Are you a maker? Do you have an artistic student or a crafty friend? We will have tables available for adults and Grout students at our market. The deadline for vendor applications is October 1, 2026. Oregon Battle of the Books: Attention all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade families - The Oregon Battle of the Books (AKA OBOB)  season is starting with a kickoff party and information session. This is a great chance to learn more about the program and form teams. Every student who attends will be entered into a free raffle to win OBOB books. Join us in the Grout Auditorium on Thurs. Oct. 15 at 6pm. 

Save the date for October Fundraisers: We have several community fundraisers scheduled for October:

• 10/07 - Dine Out at Dairy Hill (10% of sales go to Grout PTA)

• 10/21 - Dine Out at Rocio’s (15% of sales go to Grout PTA)

• 10/27 - Bingo Night at Gigantic Brewing (21+ Ages 21 and up event)
